Users of the National Data Set when proposing interchange points should consider the physical proximity of the NaPTAN points involved. In some areas they may find that StopAreas have been set up and these indicate where interchange can take place.
The interchange.csv - 1k csv file file is set up ready to list specific interchanges, minimum times and interchange resources and any values on this list should be used for interchange at the points they relate to. Elsewhere those using the dataset are expected to apply suitable default values or user set values values to interchanges.
The addition or deletion of any record in the interchanges.csv file shall be the decision of the transport authorities in whose area the interchange occurs.
The transfer points can be NaPTAN points or StopAreas and the interchange can be at or between points as follows:
only the Transfer from, Transfer to and Wait fields re mandatory. All other fields are optional and should be left blank if not required.
The interchange.htm file is a temporary arrangement and may in due course be replaced by data prepared according to the IFOPT standard.
These are held in TXC2 format and distributed in a zip folder of about 500Mb. This is not yet available to be used in public facing services but is available to anyone who can help test the data and provide feedback. If you are interested in this please and provide brief details of the testing you might be able to do.
During the testing phase there are a number of cost and technical issues which means, each region is supplying data as follows:
